To honor the work and dedication of Buddy Spencer to the Sallisaw Industrial Park and the Sallisaw campus of Carl Albert State College, the city renamed South Opdyke, south of Interstate 40, to Buddy Spencer Avenue.   Mr. Spencer and his family moved to Sallisaw in 1997 and have volunteered countless hours to the community of Sallisaw and also to public education.  His tireless work has been an essential part to both the commercial and industrial growth in Sallisaw.
