City of Sallisaw Issues Amended Proclamation Regarding COVID-19

354

The City of Sallisaw has issued Amendment No. 4 to its emergency proclamation. The amendment follows new guidelines of the “Open Up and Recover Safely” plan (OURS) issued by Governor Stitt. The proclamation is effective at 11:59 p.m. April 23, 2020.

Among the changes to the city’s emergency declaration is the elimination of the curfew put in place earlier.  Businesses are now allowed to open, as long as they follow the OURS plan.  All in-person gatherings for social, spiritual and recreational purposes are also required to follow the guidelines of the OURS plan.  Also, all citizens with underlying medical conditions are still encouraged to follow the safer-at-home guidelines issued by the Governor.  The new amendment extends the emergency declaration for the City of Sallisaw until June 1, 2020.

“With this amendment, the City of Sallisaw will follow the new three phase plan adopted by the State of Oklahoma for re-opening the economy of our community.  The City will still keep certain city facilities closed until further notice, or until the dates mentioned in the OURS plan,” stated Keith Skelton, Sallisaw City Manager.  “This virus event is not over.  All of our citizens have a responsibility to themselves, their families and their community to continue to fight COVID-19.  Everyone must continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing.  We encourage our businesses and our citizens to review the OURS plan and to follow it.  The health of our community depends on it.”

The City of Sallisaw will continue to post updated information to our website and social media sites.  The OURS plan, issued by Governor Stitt, may be viewed at https://www.okcommerce.gov/covid19/.
