City Manager's Office

Overview


The City Manager is appointed by the City Council to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the City. He is responsible for the overall management of the City and carries out the policies of the City Council. The City Manager also serves as the General Manager of the Sallisaw Municipal Authority.

Keith Skelton currently serves as the interim City Manager.  Mr. Skelton has been employed with the City of Sallisaw since 1994 having served as Purchasing Agent, Director of Finance, and since 2003 has served as the Assistant City Manager/Director of Finance.

Mr. Skelton is a 1986 graduate of Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where he obtained his Bachelor degree in Accounting.  He is a Certified Oklahoma Municipal Official, a member of these organizations:
  • Governmental Finance Officers Association (GFOA)
  • Municipal Clerks, Treasurers & Finance Officials of Oklahoma (MCTFOA)
  • International City Management Association (ICMA)
  • City Management Association of Oklahoma (CMAO)
Mr. Skelton also serves on the Board of Directors of the Municipal Electric Systems of Oklahoma (MESO) and is active in the Grand River Dam Authority's municipal customer group.
